A Challenging Weekend for Stuart at Silverstone following Technical Problem
London, 15 September, 2009. 24-year-old Aston Martin Racing driver, Stuart Hall (GB), experienced a tough race at his home circuit in the Autosport 1000km at Silverstone. In a line-up mirroring the German race last month which ended in an all-Aston Martin podium, Hall piloted the 008 Gulf-liveried LMP1 car alongside Aston Martin team-mates Chris Buncombe (GB) and Miguel Ramos (PT).
The weekend was a successful one for the collective Aston Martin Racing team, claiming both the 2009 Le Mans Series Team championship and the Driver title with the 007 car. However, Hall, Buncombe and Ramos fought against technical problems which would eventually see them finish in 12th place. Just after 2pm, the team were forced to call the 008 car back to the pits and replace a faulty air conditioning compressor. BRDC Superstar Hall took to the driving seat 20 minutes later and set about gaining some lost ground. Stuart worked relentlessly throughout his double stint, gaining 12 places and eventually handing over to Ramos in 12th place.
Hall reflected on the weekend’s events: “It’s such a shame that we had the technical problem with the 008 car during the race, especially as we were all having a productive weekend and working well together as a team. Unfortunately with the lost time we experienced mid-race it was difficult to make up enough places to get back to the front of the field. I would have loved to achieve a podium place with all my friends and family watching here at my home circuit but it was still a great occasion for the team, a fantastic experience for me and I really appreciate the huge amount of support I’ve had.”

Le Mans Series, Numburgring, Germany - August 2009
London, 25 August, 2009. Aston Martin Racing driver, 24-year-old Stuart Hall (GB), had a dream finish to his Le Mans Series weekend at the ADAC 1000km of Nürburgring. Driving the 008 Gulf-liveried LMP1 car alongside Aston Martin team-mates Chris Buncombe (GB) and Miguel Ramos (PT), Bishops-Stortford based Hall played an important part in securing a third place finish and historic all Aston Martin podium.
The trio of Aston Martins ran trouble free for the duration of the race, stopping only for the seven scheduled pit stops each. Commencing from a challenging fifth-row grid position, Hall and his 008 team-mates worked tirelessly throughout the race, managing to move through the pack to occupy fourth place after three hours. In the following two hours, Hall built on the strong team position and moved into third place before handing over to Buncombe who held the position to claim the final place on the podium for the 008 car.
Hall, a BRDC (British Racing Drivers’ Club) Superstar, is enjoying the result: “I’ve had a fantastic weekend in Germany – it’s great to be back in the Aston Martin and I’ve really enjoyed working with the whole team, especially Chris and Miguel who were great to drive with. We worked really well together and I’m glad that our hard work paid off, allowing Aston Martin Racing to dominate the podium! This result really came at the perfect time. I’m grateful for the faith that Aston Martin has shown in me and I can’t wait to get back in the car at Silverstone now. Driving at my favourite circuit with such a prestigious British team is going to be a real privilege and I believe we’re in a strong position to challenge for another great result.”
