The concept of telescopic bollards was bought to the world by an engineer following the theft of a neighbour's car from their driveway, our man wanted a physical security measure to protect his new car.
The only thing available on the market were lie down security posts which are physically weak and become a tripping hazard when lay on the ground.
After several months of prototype building and several trips back to the drawing board, the Telescopic Bollard was born. It quickly became apparent that there was a wider market for the posts and in 1990 we started trading as Vehicle Protection Security Posts Ltd or VPSP Ltd., in 1995 after a period of rapid growth we were acquired by multi-million pound engineering company AT Group and in 1996 we moved into our existing premises at AT Group headquarters in Lowton St. Mary's. At this point the company was named VPSP Ltd. Trading as ATG Access ™.
In 2003 the company was formally registered as ATG Access Ltd ™.
As well as retaining many of the original patents on the design of telescopic security posts and on retractable pedestrian bollards we have continuously developed our product range and improved on all aspects of the design and operation, the result is a high quality product range boasting the highest level of professional accreditation available.
