On Monday 31st October, Channel 5's flagship programme, Fifth Gear, became the first to televise the crash test of a security product when they propelled a fully laden 7.5 tonne truck into a single ATG Access ™ SP1000 rising bollard at 50mph.  The results were spectacular with the truck being stopped dead in its tracks and the bollard continuing to work.

Unrelated to that particular test, on the Wednesday of the same week, the SP1000 was nominated for Product of The Year at the lavish Builder & Engineer awards held at the world famous Lowry hotel in Manchester.  Under the watchful eye of government security consultants and all the major players of the construction industry the ATG Access ™ bollard deservedly walked away with the award whilst at the other end of the East Lancashire Road the hydraulic bollards were being installed as part of the huge Paradise Street development in Liverpool.  The bollards have the advantage of the ATG Access ™ highways agency approval rating and were the perfect choice as protection for the Police Facility in Liverpool whilst being able to cope with the demands of one of the busiest bus stations in the country.
