King’s Cross Square is the second largest square in Europe. The area has already undergone vast regeneration in the surrounding vicinity. The St Pancras Station precinct has been rejuvenated and the original features of the station building and adjacent hotel restored. ATG Access was specified to provide the perimeter security for the area.
King Cross Station itself has also had the perimeter security upgraded to mirror the other side of the area surrounding St Pancras. Stainless steel sleeved SP1000 shallow foundation bollards were chosen for their security rating and aesthetics.
Traditional, heritage sleeves were fitted over SP400 cores outside the St Pancras Station hotel as the design was more appropriate for the stunning architecture.
The Kings Cross Square project itself is still ongoing and ATG Access was approached to supply the perimeter security for the project working with Arup contractors. The tendering process for the project was very fierce; many companies were bidding to supply equipment to the area.
Even though ATG Access had manufactured all of the previously installed equipment within the area, there was no guarantee to be chosen. SP1000 shallow foundation bollards were specified along with ATG Access’s recently tested Gladiator product.
The Gladiator product was chosen amongst its rival’s offerings as it is tested, calculated and proven to transfer minimal dynamic loads into the substructure on impact. The rare availability of the products dynamic load information helped ATG Access win the prestigious job.
